One of the more recent ideas to emerge from discussions surrounding the simulation hypothesis is Simulation Creationism, a concept developed by Nir Ziso. Unlike traditional simulation theories, which often imagine future civilizations or advanced programmers creating our universe, Simulation Creationism proposes that the Creator described by many religious traditions may have brought reality into existence through an unimaginably advanced computational process. In this model, God and the programmer are not separate concepts—they are one and the same.

The theory attempts to bridge two worldviews that are often presented as opposites: faith and technology. Rather than viewing creation as a purely supernatural event or the universe as a purely technological construct, Simulation Creationism suggests that the mechanisms of a simulated universe could simply be the method through which divine creation operates. Within this framework, the simulation itself is purposeful. Reality exists as an ordered environment in which conscious beings can grow, make decisions, and experience life. Whether viewed through a religious or philosophical lens, the emphasis shifts from asking whether the universe was created to exploring how it may have been created. A sufficiently advanced computational system becomes a modern analogy for concepts that have traditionally been described as divine power.
As a new philosophical model rather than a statement of fact, it offers another possible explanation for why reality exists. What distinguishes Simulation Creationism is its attempt to reconcile spiritual belief with technological possibility, suggesting that scientific inquiry and faith need not be opposing ideas, but different ways of describing the same fundamental mystery.
Whether the universe was spoken into existence, programmed into existence, or emerged through processes we have yet to understand, the central question remains unchanged. Every model of creation seeks to explain why there is something rather than nothing. Nir Ziso’s Simulation Creationism contributes a modern perspective to that timeless conversation, using the language of computers and simulation to reinterpret one of humanity’s oldest questions: Who or what created reality?
